Single-sided thickness gauges are used to measure the thickness of metal sheets and the walls of products on one side, which is important when measuring the thickness of pipe walls.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges have a built-in ultrasonic sensor in the probe, which sends a pulse through the analyzed coating during the measurement process, most often non-metallic, such as paint, coating, or other coating. The pulse sent is reflected from the measured surface and converted by the sensor into a high-frequency electrical signal. The signal data is digitized and analyzed to determine the thickness of the coating.
